About me

Anne Fabrizio, MD, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified colon and rectal surgeon at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She treats patients with the full range of conditions that affect the colon and rectum, including colorectal cancer, IBS, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse, benign neoplasms of the colon and rectum, hemorrhoids, fistulas, and fissures.

Her areas of surgical expertise include minimally invasive colectomy (removal of a portion of the colon), minimally invasive proctectomy (removal of all or part of the rectum), ostomy surgery, management of anal fistula, J-pouch surgery, and hemorrhoidectomy (surgical removal of hemorrhoids).

Dr. Fabrizio takes a multidisciplinary team-based approach to treating her patients, working closely with medical and radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, and other specialists to provide patients with comprehensive, coordinated care. She provides both surgical and non-surgical treatments and educates all her patients about their condition so they can be active partners in decision making about their care.

Dr. Fabrizio earned her medical degree from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School and completed her residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in the Department of Surgery. She completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and was a research fellow at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, where she focused on the gut microbiome and treatment outcomes.
